Art Farm of a Country Woman

Painting My World with My Heart~

harvest-grapes flowing

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.

We are grumbling that our cool nights have slowed the ripening in our chardonnay – or slowed the sugar[brix] – from inching up past 23.  Nobody really likes a sour chardonnay. Sometimes we get cool weather before our Indian summer, when temperatures climb beyond reasonability!!

I hate this time of year due to stress over the dry, BROWN, fire-ripened hills, grapes needing doses of sulphur spray for weeks on end, ever-present heat, oft dwindling bank accounts and our yearly harvest! We are paid once a year. When we sell our grapes. Not much quibbling about it nor scraping around for more of those fat litttle berries. That’s it til next harvest in September 2018. People think as grape growers, we must be wealthy but in farming, wealthy is a relative term. In our business, we are on the wrong end of the donkey. It’s the wineries making the money!

I’m running around taking photos with my new toy.

I finally broke down and bought a smartphone that is very smart. She’s a hot red IPhone and quite nice, if I do say so myself. Which I will.

Life is short. Find what you love and do it!
