Never Mind the Mess…

gouache painting

I’m working on paintings for a wildlife series of the critters that (sometimes) live along side me on the ranch.

A reminder to stay awake, keep my eyes open. One never knows when Mother Nature will give you a large nudge.

Stephen Quiller, casein + acrylic

This painting is a little diversion into casein. Casein is a water-based paint and contains casein, the protein in milk. You can read more about it here. As you might expect it has a lovely creaminess and is very versatile for creating effects one cannot do with watercolor or gouache.{at least I can’t!}

I live in the country ~ far out in the country. You thought Musings of a “Country Woman” wasn’t quite that sort of country? Nay nay… I do live far out in the wilds, about 20 minutes from the closest little “city”. There is so much wildlife on this place, it forgets to act “wild” much of the time.
