The Safrano Roses at the Window, 1925 Matisse

Flower Friday

Oct, 18, 2020

Painting in post is by Matisse, a work I just adore. To paint like that… the rosiness, the pinks!

For me, the joys of growing roses is cutting them for bouquets all over my house. They have the most delicious fragrance that lasts for days.

English roses are David Austin’s, favorites of mine.

“If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet scented herbs, that is your success.”

Timely meth

“I heartily accept the motto, — ’That government is best which governs least;’ and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe, — ’That government is best which governs not at all;’ and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. […] I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government.” Thoreau

Thank you Rebecca for your always kind and thoughtful words. I hope to be more active on here from now on. I think we are past these awful fires and air pollution but tomorrow, ask me again. 🙂 xxx

Cyan birds sing, hidden. Ruby-throated hummingbirds flash amongst lemon trees. Shy creatures peer from purple shadow. Nature is a glorious tapestry.

I paint from my heart. I lost my mind a long time ago…
