I imagine our vineyards looking like this as the sun sets. A countless array of shadows and light captured within a pink-violet glow.
This is what I see as I look out my window. Not actually imagination.
Had he not suffered from periods of severe mental illness, of mania and psychosis, at a time when there was little treatment available, perhaps he would not have gone that fateful summer’s day.
“Safrano Roses at the Window” by Matisse, is my favorite. Delicious pink roses gathered within that luscious cacophony of glorious pink hues in all it’s beautiful shades AND both inside and outside the window! I don’t think I love this painting because I’m synesthetic, it’s just wonderful! I’ve caught the lovely fragrance wafting from the window.
